Harriet smiled broadly as she shook her head in instant approval. After wiping beads of perspiration from her forehead, she said, "You know, Diane, I think you have the right idea. We need a way to beat this heat!"
Rebecca smiled as she slung her arms over each friend's shoulder. "For the first time today, I think we are all in agreement. Should we wait for Rick to join us?"
"Normally, I'd say yes," offered Diane with a wink, "but considering how much he hates carnival rides anyway, I don't think he'd mind if we went on a quick ride while he's away." Diane's statement was thoroughly convincing, especially when the ladies felt another blast of stifling, tropical air whipping around them.
"Alright, I'm sold," replied Rebecca. "Let's make sure we pick something with a short line, though. I don't want to piss off our ride home." They all giggled boisterously before heading for the coolness of The Ice Factory.
As they reached the gates, they noticed the icy motif was fully displayed with large plastic icicles hanging from the curved entrance and humorous mechanized penguins perched throughout. A blast of arctic air greeted them like an old friend when they crossed the threshold, and each attractive girl sighed in instant relief.
However, the abnormal heat must have motivated half the city to the grounds of The Ice Factory on this day, and the ladies were having a hard time finding a short enough line at any of the rides and exhibits.
