Before Rebecca could react in turn, Athena's eyes glowed with golden energies. Suddenly, the statuette of Harriet began glowing, becoming hot to the touch. Rebecca dropped her petrified friend. Just as the stone figurine was about to make violent contact with the floor, Harriet was restored to her former self, landing on her ass with a dull thud. "And now, mortal, feel the wrath of Athena!" The golden glow from the goddess' eyes changed to dark green. She felt magical energies wash over her body. She tingled all over... subtley at first, then growing to a painful level that she could barely tolerate.
Harriet, watching in fear, watched her friend change. He skin became tinted green. Darker lines made her skin appear to have scales. Her eyes slowly morphed into glowing green and red orbs. Finally her hair fell out and snakes sprang from her bald head. Realizing what the goddess had done to Rebecca, Harriet averted her gaze from friend's now hideous form. "A wise precaution, mortal!" Athena addressed her. "For your friends act of disrespect for me, the Goddess Athena, I have granted her life eternal to contemplate her actions. When she is truly repentent and I am convinced of her sincerety, I shall restore her to human form. In the meantime, she shall live her life in humility as a dreaded Gorgon! Gaze not upon her eyes, lest you be turned forever to stone! Also know this, that her affliction is addictive. The more souls she petrifies, the more she shall be driven to petrify others! Before I depart this mortal plane, I shall perform one last act."
