…A statue of a woman. Rick went down and examined it. It was quite beautiful, but needed cleaning like everything else around here. Somehow, it looked vaguely familiar, but he couldn’t place it. Rebecca joined him in looking at the figure.
“What’s a statue doing in a dungeon like this?” She asked him, as if he would know the answer.
“I don’t know. Maybe Harriet knows.” Rick pointed to some tools leaning on the stairs. “Let’s take those and help the others outside.”
They took the tools and within an hour, the place looked respectable.
“Wow, good work everyone. Now I feel like a swim, who want’s to join me?” Harriet offered. Of course everyone agreed.
“Okay, last one in has to unload the luggage!” Harriet yelled, stripping as she went. By the time she reached the lake, she didn’t have a stitch of clothes on. The other two girls quickly followed suit, splashing in the water. Rick was a little more reluctant to strip in front of three girls, even though they had all seen each other nude before, but he soon joined them.
They splashed around and played games for about a half-hour. Diana said she was getting wrinkly, so she left. The others followed her out and they got some towels out of the car to dry off. While they were doing this, Rick asked Harriet about the statue.
“I don’t know about any statue. Neither my Aunt nor Uncle mentioned it. Let’s go and take a look.” They got dressed and went to the back of the cabin. Rick opened the door and turned on the flashlight that he had gotten from the car. They went down the stairs and Rick shined his light on the figure. When Harriet saw the face, she let out a gasp.
“Oh my God… That looks just like Sarah.” Now Rick knew why it looked so familiar. Harriet sat down on the bottom of the stairs. “The last time I saw her was just before she left to go to this cabin last year. She disappeared right after she left. Who would be so sick as to leave a statue of her here?” Harriet was visibly upset. Diane sat down next to her to comfort her.
Just then, they heard a noise.
