Is it legal to post these book passages?

I've done a lot of research on this question, and the best answer I can find is "probably". Since I do not have the copyright holders permission to post them, it falls under what is called "fair use". This is the same policy that allows you to copy from library books on a copy machine. It is not a hard and fast set of rules, but rather guidlines open to interpretation. In this case, I am posting "no more than necessary" for "review and criticism" of the aspect of the stories we are interested in. How Fair Use applies to the Internet is still a hotly debated topic, and it is likely to be more expicitly defined in the near future.

The vidcap images and cover scans fall into the same catagory, although it's probably the least secure on the covers, since it reproduces the "entire work". At any rate, I don't think it's a big deal either way, but I wanted people to know that I have looked into it.
