Basement Jaxx

"Plug it In" [A][M] **** This one's a keeper. A couple of security guards have some fun with remote-controlled robot women. The models are made up to perfection, and the freeze/robotic acting is simply the best I've seen in years.

"Sex (I'm a...)" [M] - A Clothes designer repeatedly dresses a white faceless mannequin. At the end of the sequence, the mannequin has a blonde wig, and singer Terri Nunn's face is superimposed over the blank surface briefly.

"Get Over You" [M][A] **** The new high water mark for mannequin acting, this video features glossy makeup, seam lines, and tons of frozen and mechanical-moving women in store-front windows.

"All Is Full Of Love" [A] - The video shows Bjork as two very sexy female robots. Uses some very hi-tech looking mechanics and special effects to pull it off.

"Freestyler" [F] - This video features a kid who freezes and unfreezes (and reverses) various people using a remote control, including some female dancers...who keep their eyes open.

"All You Wanted" [F] ** Lots of freeze scenes in a crowded night club. Some live and some effects. Not bad.

"What About Us" [S] - There is a scene where Brandy is standing on a pyramid of living male statuary, shown in quick flashes. Also, there is a long scene with two men painted a black (metallic) on their knees on opposite sides next to Brandy.

"Bombon" [M] - On MTV-Espanol. In the video he arranges and rearranges male and female dolls (one of which is Cabas) who are real people with thick plastic-like coatings on their bodies, stiffened hair, and exagerrated eyelashes. The figures are totally immobile. More waxworks than dolls I guess, but the effect is very good.

"" [M][A] *** Yuri (the name of the girl performing in this vid) supposed to be a one of those wind-up Music Box ballerina dolls. The thing is that she does it so well, the mechanical movements are soo unlife like, and she does it twice, the first one is better though.

"The World is Not Enough" [A] - Features Lead Singer and real hotty Shirley Manson as a Android Time Bomb. Many good shots of her construction, activation, etc.

"Celebrity Skin" [S] {*} Features greyish colored women as decorations. They are in the far background most of the time, so they are hard to see.

"All Right" [M] - Mannequins in a window come to life and dance with each other. Also a stop action scene as well.

"ParaParaQueen" [M] - Lee Soo Jin walks onto a street (sort of like Sophie Ellis Bextor's MV) and brings some girls to life (who are frozen of course) and they all particpate in a full scale dance number. They're some nice scenes of some girls and the singer posing in a shop window at the end.

"Here Comes The Hotstepper" [F] - This circa 1994 video has some great freeze scenes. The frozen person is in black & white while the others check her out. Several freeze scenes. The video comes with the movie "Ready to Wear".

"Getcha Some" [M]** A girl is frozen in a museum display and comes to life as Toby hits the "press here" button. Short but nice.

Kula Shaker

"mystical machinegun" [M]{***} For the first minute of the video, you can see girls posed as mannequins that then come to life as product salepeople.

"Pretty Boy" [M] - The teen singing duo, M2M (a couple of young girls from Norway) feature initially the two of them dressing a male mannequin in a series of cut scenes between scenes of the pair singing. At the end of the video, the two girls appear to either be mannequins, or become mannequins.

Manson, Marylin

"Long Hard Road out of Hell" [F] ***1/2 Lots of frozen girls during the video. Very nice, the only thing keepng this one from four stars are the quick cuts (typical of videos) and having to endure Manson when not looking at frozen beauties. "All I want" [F] - This video takes place at a carnival in the desert, with ladies posed as still life on all the rides and at the games etc.

"Can't Get You Out of My Head" [F] * The makeup, dancing, and some of the funky lighting effects in the video conspire to make Miss Minogue look a lot like a moving Mannequin. Maybe it's the contrast between really bright red lipstick and really shiny pale skin.

Navarro, Dave

"Hungry" (Empty Girl) [A][M] *** Features Carmen Electra as a malfunctioning robot. Great freeze scenes and at one point some posing. At the end he throws her into a room full of old androids (mannequins, actually).

Ozomatli

"Vocal Artillery" [S] - On MTV-Espanol. A collaboration between them and several American rappers,(Medusa, Will. I. Am, and Kanetic Source). Medusa appears with gray snakelike scales on her face and some acceptable but nothing great CGI snakes moving in her hair with her eyes glowing green. At the very end of the video she petrifies a handsome male rapper (Harold Perrineau), but all you see is his face get turned to stone. There are also several scenes in the video of a house in Tijuana that is built in the shape of a nude woman -- a giant concrete statue with a window in her abdomen. (This house really exists and is quite the tourist draw.)

"Lucky Me, Lucky You" [F] {**} In this country video, time stops briefly at a casino. At one point the singer steals a kiss from an attractive blond frozen at the craps table.

Pochy Familia & Coco Band

"Los Shorts" (Coco Aerobico) [M][F] ***** Spanish video with frozen babes all the way through. They are on a beach, and some girls are wearing cutoffs and others bikinis. The way the guy interacts with them, he's gotta be one of us, he even reposes some of them. My personal favorite (hence the extra star).

Purify, James and Bobby

"I'm Your Puppet" [F] * The name says it all. No video that I know of, but the lyrics are definately suggestive of this genere.

Rage Against the Machine

"Guerrilla Radio" [F] -A woman is trying on new clothes in front of her significant other. When she is showing off a tennis outfit, her skin turns plastic. Next, you see (presumably) her plunk down a credit card on a counter and her hand turns plastic. Next, you see two plastic people try to play raquetball and you see their joints and appropriate movement.

"All Night Long" [M] * Mannequins in a window come to life for a second. Very brief.

Romantics

"Talking in Your Sleep" [F] - Band members walk through rows of women in lingerie standing frozen, apparently hypnotized in sleep. Great for sleepygirl fans.

Roth, David Lee

"California Girls" [M][F] **** A long scene at the end of the video has 2 rows of bikini clad babes lined up , just the way we like em, frozen. Thanks David! "A Little Ain't Enough" [M][F] - This little known addendum to Roth's solo career once again noticeably features frozen girls lined up in a row across multiple scenes. Not quite as good as California Girls but admirable nonetheless. Sadly, the song proved to be eerily prophetic in that this attempt at a comeback was too little, too late and effectively ended his career.

"Luv me, Luv me" [M][F] **1/2 An homage to the statue-still swimsuit babes done in two lines of girls, about twenty or so total, all posed in various static postitions. However, the segment is broken up, not in one continuous flowing scene, thus we get quick snippets which don't really heighten the motionlessness of the models. "Luv me, Luv me" [F] *** In this alternate video he has a watch and every time a girl comes over to his pad he has to freeze her with his watch so the other girl won't find out. At the end of the video he panics as to many girls come over so he freezes them all.

Silverchairs

"Anthem for the Year 2000" [F][A]- Takes place in a futuristic school. Some girls behind the band are frozen, and their school priciple, when she's about too adress the students turns out to be a robot who moves through the use of pullys and levers.

Southside Johnny and The Asbury Jukes

"Trash it Up" [M] - Johnny is in a roomful of naked mannequins. A silver, faceless mannequin is on a lit stage, dressed in conservative street clothes. Johnny strips the mannequin, dresses it in lingerie, and it turns into a blond haired dancer who grinds with Johnny.
